Complete History:
Neftiria Cohl was raised in an isolated corner of Alpheridies with a fundamentalist sect of Miraluka Force-worshipers. From the time she was able to walk, she
was taught the ways of the Jedi as remembered by the village and chosen as that generation's representative for the Jedi Council. Between her schooling and
her training, Nef's early life was very busy.
Her teaching included the philosophy of the village, and not necessarily that taught at the Jedi Temple. Told from an early age that the Force was the binding
substance that the entire galaxy shared, a benevolent aspect of nature and a fundamental material essential to life of all kinds. In this way, she came to
respect it as a, if not the god. Her respect for the Force bordered on fanaticism after several years of
indoctrination.
She took up several more peaceful, undemanding hobbies to keep herself calm. Tai Chi was her solace during her extensive physical training, and gardening
allowed her to forget her thinking mind for hours at a time and attain a kind of personal peace. In this way she managed to not only finish her training, but
maintain a calm mentality as she left home a month ago to make for Naboo.
Never once was Nef ever told of the existence of the Sith.
The Sins:
Nef's upbringing with a Force-worshiping cult has instilled in her the fundaments of a very similar philosophy to that the Jedi teach. Among many other
aspects, it includes a list of sins which are not only not to be committed under any circumstances, but to be atoned for with proper penitence. Until
repentance is made, one is still an evil creature worthy of destruction. This has given her the mindset of a religious fanatic, obsessed with obeying her
Master's orders and upholding her ideals at the same time.
Pride is the first sin. Though others may exalt you, do not exalt yourself.
Atonement involves a given amount of menial, thankless service to instill humility. The amount of time spent serving is proportionate to the infraction.
Avarice is the second sin. You must never keep from others what you have no use
for. Atonement involves charity work with a total value proportionate to the infraction. To instill generosity, one's possessions must never
include more than is strictly necessary.
Malcontent is the third sin. Begrudging another for his success is the surest path to
evil. Atonement involves service to the party wronged, proportionate to what said party feels will teach the sinner content with himself.
Cowardice is the fourth sin. Never leave to others what you are more capable of
doing. Atonement involves volunteering for a task of great danger without regard for personal wishes, meant to teach bravery.
Bloodlust is the fifth sin. Striking out at a man before he has struck at you is the first
act of evil. Atonement involves corporal punishment, administered slowly and without quarter. This is to teach both patience and endurance.
Murder is the sixth sin. Innocents shall never know the cut of your blade.
Atonement is decided and administered by the victim's relatives, since only they can truly show the sinner the value of the life taken.
Corruption is the last sin. Failing to destroy evil is the greatest act of evil you can
commit. Atonement for this sin is banishment for a set duration of time, dependent on the severity of the evil ignored. The sinner is to learn
the total isolation that comes from a life of evil so that they might know what awaits them should they continue.
